My name is Andrew Soto and yes this is my photo in the photo booth at the JSEC Prom 2025. After years and years of hearing about the JSEC Senior Prom it was finally my turn or I should say ‘our turn’ as Seniors & some Juniors to actually experience it. On Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, a few weeks prior to graduating, it was time to become a participant in this nostalgic event. I thought to begin from head to toe, so I started by getting a fresh, clean, line up and haircut. From there I picked up a really cool outfit which included a black shirt, pants, shoes, then complimented it with a red bow tie and red vest. I felt pretty confident getting ready and showed up with a red carpet arrival at 6PM.
Upon arrival at Marriot, I was beyond impressed of how the banquet room was decorated and designed. The tables were nicely decorated with flowers, it was very neat, and they were all lit up. Tables were really beautiful and it really made me feel that this night was going to be something special. I turned the corner and saw the photo booth. It was free and once photos were taken the photos were instantly sent to our phones. It was so cool and I have to admit I must have gone back to that photo booth at least 10 times throughout the night.
The DJ was named DJ Flip, and he played so many old songs that most of the attendees knew. He did many line dances which motivated people to get up out of their chairs and onto the dance floor. I was impressed that the dance floor was packed most of the night. It appeared that everyone enjoyed the music throughout the night and that’s a great thing because we know that high-school students are pretty picky about their music.
There were also many teachers who attended along with all the Administrative Team. Mrs. Testa, Mr. K, and Mrs. DaSilva were all in attendance along with about a dozen teachers. They were so much fun and may or may not have gotten on the dance floor to show us their best dance moves as well. We see our teachers all day in ‘teacher mode’ so it was great to see them outside in the real world. Teachers were dressed up and a big difference from seeing some teachers at the local supermarket in sweatpants and flip flops. This prom felt special all the way around and most teachers were there at the beginning of the night to welcome us.
The food consisted of hamburgers, hotdogs, and chicken along with sides. I kept hearing about the chicken fingers which I had the chance to eat and were actually really good. We even got a quote about them from an attendee, Shakyra Oliver, who said, “Chicken fingers were so good I’ve never had such delicious fingers like that before in my life”. Also the mozzarella sticks got rave reviews. The sticks were breaded perfectly and they stretched for miles.
Following dinner, the dancing took place for hours then the DJ and Mrs. Schmidt quieted things down to allow for the long awaited announcement of Prom King, Prom Queen, Prom Prince, and Prom Princess. The actual voting took place throughout the night and everyone seemed to be in anticipation of who would win. Looking at the ballot it looked as if everyone on the ballot could have easily won. The winners were:
PROM KING: Laron
PROM QUEEN: Aidile
PROM PRINCE: Angel
PROM PRINCESS: Daniella
We also had a few attendees under their own parent supervision, go swimming after the prom. They had pre-reserved rooms and after a night of full excitement a handful of JSEC students cooled off in the pool. The prom overall was not disappointing and then it was getting ready for my first prom was pretty exciting. As you have read and hopefully discovered or shared with me, this prom is a great way of closure of High School. Sure we have Graduation, Yearbooks, Senior Trip, and Senior Field Day and Cookout coming up but the Prom 2025 is an event I’ll never forget. Thanks to all who put this together and making the night incredibly memorable!
In closing a special shout out to Jaya and Yineyri who took at least 1500 photos throughout the night. While it’s impossible to capture every moment, these two JSEC Yearbook Staff did amazing job and we have posted the highlights below. The photos for the night of the night are posted below, feel free to copy, save, and share this link from this page/story with all family and friends.
