Mr. Chittick was an incredible leader in our community and will always be remembered. He served the students of Providence as a Teacher at the Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex Life Sciences Academy which is located in the South Providence neighborhood in Providence RI. He was an exceptional educator who not only cared about students but was a valued team member of the Juanita Sanchez Teaching Staff. Students will be dedicating the 2024-2025 High School Yearbook to Drew, or Mr. Chittick, and are grateful to his contributions to our school community.
Braden Andrew Chittick, affectionately known as Drew, passed away on October 30, 2024, in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on June 26, 1999, in Champaign, Illinois, Drew’s vibrant spirit and caring nature touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Drew earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the University of Evansville, with a semester at Harlaxton University in Grantham, England. A graduate of Paris High School in Paris, Illinois, he was actively involved in scholastic bowl, band, choir, and drama where he nurtured lifelong friendships and cherished memories. While in Providence, Drew worked for City Year and, most recently, Teach for America, where he inspired students and advocated for meaningful change. Drew was also pursuing a master’s degree at Rhode Island College.
Drew was a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, an avid reader, and a lover of trivia. Drew found peace in the great outdoors, delighting in canoeing and camping adventures that allowed him to connect with nature and friends.
Drew is survived by his loving parents, John Chittick and Kristin Johnson Chittick; his siblings Allana Chittick (Ian Adderley), Nic Chittick (Haley Willis Chittick), nephew Kendrick Adderley, Grandmother Linda Chittick and many adored aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind a community of devoted friends.
Drew’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, a gentle reminder of the beautiful person he was. He will be deeply missed but not forgotten.
