May 5th-May 9th was Teacher Appreciation Week and JSEC Administration, the Kindness Crew, and JSEC Students all celebrated JSEC Teachers and Staff. As they year goes by week after week and teachers plan, correct papers, deal with the dozens of daily classroom issues, and rinse and repeat that cycle. It was nice for everyone to pause, even if for a few minutes each day last week, to recognize teachers who go above and beyond by nothing more than being great teachers.
The week started off with Mrs. Da Silva spending her Sunday, yes Sunday night, baking, and cooking a huge breakfast for Teachers. The breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, cereal, muffins, pastries, eggs, and what many teachers raved about, something called ‘cheesy hashbrowns’. Breakfast was served prior to 1st period for the teachers in the Library and so great to see the Library packed with so many teachers eating together super early in the morning. Teachers were eating, laughing, and enjoying their breakfast prior to beginning their first block of day. With the week-long celebration came at least one type of ‘shout-out’ to teachers.

“In all the years I’ve been here, 24, when the school opened, I’ve never seen such a solid Administrative Team who listen and work with their staff to make the best possible work/teaching environment for teachers and students. This week was yet another example of how strong the JSEC family is. Our Administrative Team is 2nd to none” -Mr. Moreau
The week continued with nice notes, candy, slushies, T-Shirts, and a nice catered lunch to end the week. In addition to what Administration did for our JSEC Teachers the students also wanted to give random shout outs to teachers for many reasons. Students were given the opportunity to give shout outs to teachers and this is just some of what students wanted to share out.

“Teachers here care about our education. They take time to help us understand the material. They don’t give us homework because I would cry if they did but they do teach us well from bell to bell. Ms. Greene is my shout out, she encouraged me to sign u for the National Honors Society, which I did. I just found out I made it because I was accepted. This allows me to continue to use my leadership skills both in school and outside of school” -Jaylenn
“Mr. Maione has always been super helpful when I’m ot doing the best he is always a Teacher I can rely on. He made me feel welcomed after a big transition from my old school. He is also a teacher who is old school. He is also very easy to talk to. Overall I just think he is wonderful” -Gabby

“Mr. Graham is very similar to Mr. Ryan, they are neighbors, and he makes sure you understand the work and is very student orientated. He is also bilingual.” -Lil0
