Many have asked what is HOSA and what does JSEC have to do with HOSA? We have a lot of information to give you that should answer many questions you may have. We hope this information inspires all JSEC students to become involved with HOSA as most of those who are part of the program are soaring to new heights and experiencing numerous exciting educational excursions.
Ms. Chisholm shared a bit more of what HOSA is all about. “Some of you have been asking what HOSA is. In short, HOSA is a leadership program where students have the opportunity to present their research and projects to experts in the field for a chance to earn medals, scholarships, and leadership recognition. This is an academic event that has garnered significant attention and rewards for our school and students participating will tell you how proud they are of their accomplishments.
Last year, we had 9 students qualify for Nationals. This year, our students have developed even more impressive projects, understanding that with the growing participation in HOSA statewide, they needed to build on their past accomplishments to remain competitive.
Attached are some of the students’ projects if you’d like to see the hard work they’ve put in. This year, we have 33 students competing across 12 different teams in various events, with 3 students competing in individual events.
We have two community awareness teams that have done some amazing outreach activities, writing articles, being recognized on Providence Schools social media, writing an amendment to a bill, going out to middle schools, painting a mural, working with leading experts in the field and making goody bags with personal notes of encouragement for patients suffering brain injuries.
Here are some sample examples of projects our own JSEC students
